We recently sat down with talented filmmaker Sharath Chandra about his experience in film, as well as some exciting projects coming up, here is what he had to share with the readers:

Please introduce yourself to the readers and how and when did you first get into performing?

My name is Sharath Chandra Subramanyam. I’m also known as “Moon” as Chandra Means Moon and people mostly recognize me by that name. I was studying for my degree in computer science and I had to make a choice if I wanted to pursue my career in the IT field or do what I have always wanted to do. So I made the choice of studying for a diploma in film making in the Philippines in 2009 . I graduated in 2010 and came back to India and had an opportunity to work as a director’s assistant for a very established director Sai Prakash in a Kannada Movie called Sri Naagashakti, that’s how I got into the industry, in Indian films.

 

What inspired you to get into the entertainment industry?

 

Ever since i can remember I wanted to get into film. I just wasn’t sure as to what aspect until I realized photography and directing are two things which really interested me. I started my career in the camera department as a camera assistant and later I moved up to become as first assistant camera man and became a camera Operator.

 

What kind of training have you had, if any?

 

I got a diploma in film making in the Philippines and studied at the New York Film Academy in Los Angeles. I also used to work in a theatre called Rangayana in Mysore City.

 

What has been your favorite position working in film so far?

 

Working  as a camera operator and focus puller in feature films Like Shake Off The World, Regen  and Borderland.

 

What has been one of the most exciting achievements of your career so far?

 

I have just signed on for 3 Latin TV projects which will be made in English.

What are your plans for the future?

After I finish the projects that I have with the line Telenovelas and TV shows, I want to get involved more in feature films, so that’s what I’m going to focus on .

 

What is your advice to aspiring performers?

 

Like they say “Never give up!”
