Travis Cormier, a New Brunswick, Canadian native – not to mention an alternative rock-singer/songwriter – may not profess to be a musical genius, but on paper, that is exactly what he appears to be. He graduated early at the age of 17 from high school and immediately bolted for Hollywood, California to study music professionally – and take his career, still in its infancy, to the next level. Thanks to a gift from his parents when he was 9 years old –an acoustic guitar – he was able to take lessons and then play his first show shortly thereafter (aided considerably by the inspirational CD collection his father owned). His first electric guitar came on his 12th birthday and in 2006, he joined “Rock Camp” where he was the lead guitarist in his first band.
Travis is not just a guitarist. He also denotes himself as a vocalist, backup singer and studio singer/songwriter and producer. In 2011, Travis recorded his first single “Just Pour Voir Le Monde”. The song skyrocketed on chart-toppers in various community radio stations across the country. That same year, he founded his band “Skyne”, which played many shows around Canada.
The hits kept on coming in terms of good luck and strategic planning: Travis was soon sharing the stage with members of established bands such as Skid Row and Guns N’ Roses. He joined a Los Angeles rock band called “British Convicts” and recorded their first single “Nightfall Riot”. He recently graduated from the prestigious Musicians Institute in Hollywood and releases his first Self Titled Solo Album on August 25, 2015. The album is a kind of roaming musical testimonial that tells of his adventures upon moving to Los Angeles at 17. The journey continues, no doubt to the stars and history!
