Sarah Anjuli Hopkins was born in Australia into a family of mixed Australian and Indian descent. Growing up in Perth, Australia, Sarah’s talents revealed themselves from the tender age of 3, when she quickly became a stand-out in tap, jazz and ballet dancing at the Jody Marshall Company. After relocating to Canada, she was “discovered” by a talent scout one day while out shopping with her parents. Unknown to her at the time, that fateful shopping outing turned out to be a life-defining event. She soon found herself modeling professionally, and even starring in national commercials for the likes of Cheerios, Calvin Klein and Canadian retailer Winners.
Not too long after, she left Canada and went back to Perth. In Perth, Sarah became an integral member of the the Prompt Corner Theater Company. With Prompt, she was able to secure several highly-coveted stage roles including Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz, Queen Obelia in Snugglepot and Cuddlepie and Bielke in Fiddler on the Roof.
After graduating first from the Actor’s College of Theater and Television in the heart of Sydney and then the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Los Angeles, Sarah launched her career as a leading lady, first starring in Mark Knowles’ stage production of Dancing in Lughnasa. Her next role made her the fantasy girl for the sci-fi geek fans of the video game junkie series Fantasy Fights, as well as the broken-hearted widow who finds love again in Raj Rupanna’s film Me Luv, which was a favorite at the Trop Fest Film Festival in Sarah’s native Australia. Her next big role will be the title role of Lekshmi in Genevieve Bailey’s upcoming feature about a quirky teen who navigates her way through a series of unlikely adventures. The film is being described as “Juno with an infusion of heart and imagination.”
When asked what the future holds for her fans, Sarah had this to say “I have a few good projects coming up that I am really looking forward to. We’re working on the feature of Lekshmi, as well as a feature called Roundabout with Heart Anchor Productions.”
We are also looking forward to more great roles by one of our favorite actresses. Stay tuned for all the latest news on Sarah Hopkins and her upcoming projects.
